I’ve been indulging in my skincare routine lately, luxuriating especially in my extra time to use face masks, and although I am *by far* no skincare expert, I love learning about and trying new products from clean, nontoxic skincare lines.
While there’s no magic cure for eternally youthful skin (yet), I believe keeping our skin clean, clear, and happy is the best way to maintain a healthy glow throughout our lifetime – that, and of course plenty of optimism, laughter, and love during these difficult times!
So how do we keep our skin clean and clear in the midst of quarantine?

Here’s what I know: The appearance of our skin is a direct tell into what’s happening with our bodies: mentally, physically (internally + externally), and environmentally.
Here’s what I’ve learned about my skin: I have oily, break-out prone skin. My main four triggers are stress, hormone fluctuations, travel, and lack of sleep, leaving my skin either dry, lackluster, broken out, irritated, or all the above.
Here’s my current condition: With the amount of added stress we’ve all been experiencing together lately, my skin has never been worse.
Here’s my current routine:
- Give myself a skin assessment every morning and evening.
- Diagnose the reason why it’s dull (did I get a full night’s sleep?), why I have a break-out (check what day of my cycle I’m on with my Clue app), or why it’s dry (did I drink enough water or consume too much salt?).
- Select a face mask accordingly.
- Cleanse my face, neck, and décolletage using cleanser + warm water // PRO TIP: use a facial steamer to open the pores.
- Apply face mask.
- Plan what habits I need to tweak to help boost my skin’s health from the inside out while waiting for mask to dry.

Without further ado, and in no particular order, here are the six face masks I am currently using to fulfill all my quarantine skincare needs.
6 Skincare Masks
I’m Loving Right Now:
To fight free radicals
Tata Harper Purifying Mask: Let’s face it, we’re all exposed to daily pollutants wherever we live, and this mask is a perfect way to extract dirt and build-up in your pores before they can cause breakouts and further damage. I like the cooling sensation of the clay when it’s on my skin, and after rinsing, my skin feels hydrated and is visibly clearer. I typically use this mask post-flight or while I’m staying in the city, but as we’re all staying at home now, I use it for it’s ability to block free-radicals and prevent signs of aging.
For an overnight hydration boost
True Botanicals Moisture Lock Overnight Mask: I discovered True Botanicals on my first trip to San Francisco when I wandered into their flagship store. I immediately fell in love with their Clear Collection (which I will gush about later on another post) and this face mask. Faintly scented and extremely lightweight (almost feels like a moisturizer), it layers perfectly over my other True Botanicals products and gives me dewy, glowing skin the next morning. What more could a girl want?
(P.S. Save 15% off your first order when you sign up on their website and save $20 when you purchase all 3 of their face masks in their Mask Bundle)
To combat breakouts
Tata Harper Clarifying Mask: As previously mentioned, my skin is extremely prone to breakouts, and during these high anxiety times, my skin is showing how unhappy it is. This mask is my skincare hero. Using exfoliating quartz micro-crystals to prevent oil/dirt build-up and AHA superfruit blends to promote clear skin renewal, this mask has quickly earned the coveted top spot in my weekly skincare routine. I also love the tingly sensation and how frighteningly green it is (as seen in the images on this post!).
For an instant glow
Tata Harper Resurfacing Mask: This little guy is in my secret weapon kit for battling jetlag – that, and plenty of coffee! Using enzymes and a natural BHA to reduce pores and restore radiance, you can apply this when your face needs a quick pick-me-up (think pre-party or post-flight) or layer it on with Tata Harper’s Regenerating Cleanser for the brand’s signature 15 minute Glow Getter facial. Either way, you’ll get glowing reviews.
For a smoother, brighter complexion
Goop GOOPGLOW 15% Glycolic Acid Overnight Glow Peel: I normally shy away from strong facial products, not because I have sensitive skin, but because I’m always paranoid about accidentally doing permanent damage. No worries here, though! With fruit extract and hyaluronic acid, this is a gentle, but effective exfoliating acid peel that rinses off in the morning – leaving behind only softer, more radiant skin. // PRO TIP: As always with a chemical exfoliant, please wear face sunscreen diligently afterwards, I use this.
For intense rehydration
Tata Harper Hydrating Floral Mask: In my eyes, Tata Harper is the queen of all skincare. This is the newest addition to her army of face masks (ALL of which are included in this post). Fully loaded with hyaluronic acid and a heavenly scented blend of 13 flowers, this luxurious mask feels delicate, but delivers big on hydration.
