Yesterday was a dream. Yesterday it was 80 degrees. Absolutely beautiful. Today? You guessed it, today was 45 – not so dreamy. My nose was cold. The good news? The groundhog didn’t see his shadow, so spring is right around the corner. Oh and, hey, it’s Friday.

For these weather days that can’t make up their mind, one of my favorite pieces to layer is this Johanna Ortiz velvet robe. It looks like it was made from my great-great-grandmother’s drapery, and I couldn’t love it more. It’s olive, it’s velvety, and it’s decorated with soft blush flowers. Call it earthy and girly and a tad Downton Abbey-ish, just like moi.

Or, call it so nice, I wore it twice. Yesterday, I paired the kimono with a neutral silk cami, ripped high-waisted jeans, and classic Chanel slingbacks, as seen above. It felt more casual – perfect for running errands around town.

Today, as it was much cooler, I paired it with a long sleeve olive dress cinched in by the kimono’s matching velvet belt, and some killer Proenza Schouler ankle boots. (scroll to the bottom to see images)

My theory? It’s such a pretty piece, you can’t go wrong either way.

If you’re in love with the kimono look, here are a few more Johanna Ortiz pieces to tickle your fancy:

Wishing everyone a wonderful (and hopefully warm) weekend!
