I will forever have a vivid memory of my mom around the house in her big, soft, red robe emblazoned in my mind. It wasn’t until my twenties that I discovered the luxury of a robe for myself, and experienced that amazing feeling as you unwind and slip into something cozy at the end of the day.
I was in London, searching for the perfect birthday gift for mom, when I stumbled upon Olivia Von Halle and her dreamy nightwear. Her silky, ethereal printed robes are insanely beautiful. I picked out a gorgeous black and white robe for mom (her favorite colors) but I couldn’t resist getting one for myself – and even doubly couldn’t resist wearing it outside!! With prancing zebras and saturated jewel tones, it’s easy to say this is now one of my favorite *and most whimsical* pieces in my closet.
It was a temperamental weather day in Atlanta (what else is new?! haha) It was warm under the sun and chilly in the shadows, therefore layering became essential. With such a strong statement piece, I wanted to keep the rest of the look clean and simple. For me, jeans and a white tee serve as a clean canvas for star pieces to shine. I’m quite minimal in accessories already and tend to only wear items of sentimental value, today being no exception. I feel the classic bag and small heeled sandal added the perfect ladylike touch to balance the casualness of the denim. For me, there is no other brand that can make you feel quite as understated and elegant as Chanel, and as Coco said, “Simplicity is the keynote of all true elegance!”
I don’t think my mom would dream of wearing her pajamas outside of the house, but now that we’ve upgraded to Olivia von Halle’s silky satin robes, maybe she’ll change her mind!
Would you wear your pajamas out of the house?
