My best friend and I had such a fun time in Savannah, here’s a recap of what we did and what I wore!
It was such a treat to travel with my bestie for a few days as we both LOVE to explore new places. Over the years our adventures have taken us from bicycling through ancient cities in Thailand to gorilla trekking in the the jungles of Uganda and Rwanda. Our most recent excursion had us hopping through the many beautiful islands of the Philippines.
We thought it would be fun to mix up our travels and explore our own backyard with a road trip to a city drenched in history and oozing southern charm: Savannah, GA!
After a quick stop at Whole Foods to pick up a light lunch and coffee for the road, we set off for Savannah. It was an easy 3.5 hour drive to The Bohemian on the Savannah Riverfront, and we filled our time with *bad, but enthusiastic* singing and listening to audiobooks.
We originally were going to stay in the Historic District, however we loved the easy access to the restaurants by the Riverfront. One of our favorite stops was the Goose Feathers Cafe, and we ate breakfast there every morning! They had soy milk for our coffee (luckily for us!) and their sticky buns, oh my (don’t go to Savannah on a diet!) If I could only eat two things from Savannah again, it would be those sticky buns and the strawberry ice cream from Leopold’s Ice Cream! I must admit, I have a bit of a sweet tooth!
Another favorite place of ours was Forsyth Park. I fell in love with the majestic, moss covered Live Oaks, which are the iconic trees we envision when we think of Savannah. These beauties lined the park walkway on either side, their long branches reaching out longingly for one another. Hauntingly beautiful is the best way I can describe it.
From the park to the riverfront, we had a leisurely walk stopping at the many historic squares and admiring the beautiful homes from the 1800s. I feel I learned so much about the history of Savannah simply from that walk!
The best view of Savannah was on the rooftop of our hotel at the Rocks on the Roof at The Bohemian on the Savannah Riverfront. The atmosphere was buzzy, the sunset was beautiful, and there was a fire pit to keep us warm as the evening got chilly.
Other highlights from the weekend included walking along the riverfront while the barges came in, touring the historical Owens-Thomas House, and having lunch at The District Cafe & Eatery.
It was the perfect weekend getaway for us filled – relaxing, learning history, and eating our way through the town 🙂 and although we’re happy to be back home, we’re already planning our next adventure together!
Where shall we head to next?!
